Parish Safeguarding Officers recognised at special service

Seven Parish Safeguarding Officers (PSOs) representing the Diocese of 黑料网 were recognised at a special Church of England service last month, highlighting the important role they play in creating safer church communities.

Taking place at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, they joined almost 300 PSOs at the service from across all 42 dioceses in the Church of England.

As well as hearing a sermon from Lead Bishop for Safeguarding, Robert Springett, those attending had the opportunity to rededicate themselves to their ministry of service and safeguarding.

Reflecting on the day, Julie Lemon, PSO at the Kingsdown and Creekside parish, said: “The beautiful setting under the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral and the rich music of [the] Choral Evensong helped make the day very special. 鈥

“Expressions of thanksgiving were much appreciated and the opportunity to rededicate ourselves as PSOs to the service of others made a fitting ending to the service.”

Gary Colvin, PSO from the parish of Lyminge with Paddlesworth also attended the service. Recognising the role our diocesan safeguarding team play, he said: “Thank you for all that you do to support and encourage us. Your commitment is very much appreciated, and I know I’m not alone in being grateful for the way you look after us PSOs so well. It really does make a difference.”

Diocesan Safeguarding Officer, Fiona Coombs, added: “We are deeply grateful for the commitment and care shown by all our Parish Safeguarding Officers and the vital role they play in their parishes.

“Their work is fundamental to ensuring our churches remain welcoming, safe and supportive places for everyone.”
