Rooted in the vision of “Changed Lives → Changing Lives”, the Diocesan strategy - Decade of Transformation - casts the vision of a diocese that by 2030 is growing, outward-facing, financially sustainable and locally empowered. The diocese will develop Christian communities transformed through encounter with Christ, with locally-discerned and owned mission. By 2030, every parish and deanery will have a clear mission plan, demonstrate signs of revitalisation, and be equipped to serve its local context effectively.
The strategy is focused on delivering three bold outcomes by 2030:
- doubling the number of children and young disciples,
- establishing 200 new Christian communities,
- and ensuring every parish, benefice and deanery shows signs of revitalisation.
These outcomes intend to create a Church that is younger, spiritually deeper, improved numerical health and rooted in local communities.
To achieve this vision, the diocese has identified four strategic priorities. These are: Children and Young People, including expanding youth ministry and strengthening discipleship pathways; Attendance Revitalisation, through new worshipping communities, church revitalisation and resource churches; Leadership Development, investing in both lay and ordained leaders and supporting clergy wellbeing; and Parish Support, creating a culture of mutuality, improving financial sustainability and investing in growth-generating initiatives.
Together, these priorities provide the framework for achieving the three bold outcomes and sustaining transformation beyond 2030.
